you can get massive wheelspin without turning off your traction control? if so your traction control is malfunctioning.

Stock R56, I'm not popping the clutch but the wheelspin starts when I hit some dirt or sand on the road and continues until I back off. I read you earlier note indicating that LSD comes into play before ATC. That may be the answer. Thanks.

When I accelerate hard with the ASC on, the wheels make broken up squeals as the TC cuts the power. But the acceleration is smooth and the car pulls hard. If I do the same thing with the ASC off, both tires spin and spin with less hard pull.

I guess I'll have to try from a dead stop on a perfectly clean surface and see what happens. I'll keep ya posted.

There are too many instructors who see a student driving faster and faster, but forget to teach the little things along the way that payoff big time when the student reaches the upper limits.

I also prefer to keep the traction on early while teaching the student not only how to drive, but also the proper etiquette on the track. Or, in other words, how not to be "that guy" throughout the weekend.
Hopefully I have not been "that guy" yet...I guess
