There is such thing as a happy medium somewhere in there.

actually this discussion is about waiting till the last second, running out of gas, walking to a gas station, back to your car hoping all is still ok with it. straining the fuel pump from excessive heat, getting crap from the bottom of the tank into your nice clean injectors. then eventually paying huge $ to repair.

There is a difference between risk taking(i.e driving fast) versus risk taking, duhhh i think we can make it with only one bar Clem!

if i had a chioce with taking a Risk in your car on one gas bar or sitting on the couch, ill be nice and cozy while you are walking to the station.

Well, I did remove and clean (soaked in cleaner anyway) the CRX injectors at 180K, but they're still firing, too.

Then again, safety margins are a good thing. YMSFGMV*

Supposidly thats the reason for spending extra bucks at the pumps for "better brand" gas.

Yeah, it's pretty funny. The CRX has been my workhorse for 20 years. Gets the cheapest gas available, gets picked for the short (<5mile) trips, but it just keeps on going.
CRX 15.3 cents total cost/mile (including purchase price!)
MINI 53.4 cents total cost/mile (but that includes lots of goodies)
