Question about the Sirius Lifetime Subscription in the 2008 R56

For 2008, Mini is offerring the Lifetime Sirius Subscription (formerly in 2007's now-eliminated Audio package) as a $1,000 stand-alone option, which Sirius itself currently sells for only $500.

Since all 2008 Mini's will come (as they did in 2007) pre-wired for satellite radio, I was told by a Mini dealer in my area that each Mini comes with an ESN number that Sirius uses to activate only a Sirius Lifetime Subscription.

Today, I was told by a Sirius sales representative that if I give them the ESN number associated with a 2008 (or 2007) Mini I buy, they can sell me any Sirius subscription I want, e.g., a Lifetime subscription for $500 (not $1,000).

QUESTION: does anyone know if will it be possible to buy a 2008 Mini and get the ESN number for it without paying double for a Lifetime Sirius Subscription from a dealer??

That price tag probably includes the Sirius receiver in addition to the subscription. Each MINI will not come with an ESN unless you order the Sirius package as the ESN is tied to the receiver. In the case of an OEM installation it is essence tied to the vehicle since you cannot really take the receiver with you.

That nice fee includes the fancy new radio for sirius. You can always aftermarket a sirius radio and then lifetime it. There are advantages to getting the OEM sirius. That seamless integration is the biggest. The 1K price tag is is part subscription and part radio. Hope this helps!
