Actually, I somehow managed to accidentally chirp the tires (into first, and into second) on my Cooper test drive, and didn't at all when I test drove the S. It was a heck of a lot quicker (or felt that way anyway) than my 318is w/ 20 more horsepower (and however many more horsepounds).

Jeffm5150, congratulations on a very nice MINI, good pictures.

SimpsonGI is correct on the NAM definition of 'POOM', someone should inform the Urban Dictionary folks about the def. change/enhancement.

Interesting original def., not the intent when it was coined over in the original thread. "I cant' believe it"

Well I hope not.

Jeffm5150, after 3600+ miles I still get the happy face when I thump the turbo on my MCS, enjoy yours.

I think you mean foot-power and horse-pounds. Or is it horse-feet and foot-powder?

Nice ride.

You know, I drive through Queen Creek, Gilbert, Chandler, & Tempe on my way to PHX to work. I dont' remember any of those cities!

If you're ever out in the QC for a cruise, lemme know...the beer's always cold.

Greg was our MA as well...awesome dude. I'd recommend him to anybody.

My GF and I will be touring much more of AZ now that I have something to cruise in. Thanks for the offer. I'm sure I'll be looking for others to motor with.

It could be only on the NAV equipped vehicles. I haven't seen an owners manual on one that doesn't have the NAV so I cannot say for sure.

Well the speedo in the mini is about 10% off.. so it says 90 when you're really doing 81 :(

That's pretty far off. Have you used an official odometer check test strip on the road for this or ? Mine is pretty accurate--within about a mile or two. I think I saw something that the tolerance is 2-4%.

The allowable tolerance per MINI is that the speedometer may read up to 10% higher than the actual speed, plus an additional 2 MPH. So, if you're going 70, the speedometer can read up to 79 MPH and still be "within spec". The speedometer may not read *under* the actual speed by any amount, even 1 MPH.

Most aren't that bad, though. Mine reads about 2-3 MPH high when I'm going 60-70 MPH, and I think that's probably about typical.

WOW, mine is off, but not quite that far off. According to my GPS (and who knows if it's completely accurate either) the speedometer reads anywhere from 2-5 mph higher, dependent on speed. At normal cruising speeds it's 3mph and I simply compensate for this my setting my cruise control at 63 when I want to do 60.
