I posted to the stock problems forum that my September build car does not seem to exhibit such high hood temps (max of 165F) but I heard what appears to be an electic coolant pump running for about 6 or so minutes after shutting off the car. Someone in that thread with an early build said he/she never heard anything run after turning off the engine. So perhaps the fix was running this coolant pump.

From experience with VW, they have in the past updated the temp/run time of their electric coolant pump in some cars.

I can't say for sure if this is the answer until we have more data from more people.

Holy crap, I would buy one again in a heartbeat! Even WITH the excruciating 7 week wait while my baby shipped, I would buy MINI again without thinking twice. I absolutely LOVE this car, and have had no reliability issues at all.

Also has your paint been holding up? Thanks for the imput!. I don't mind a few problems but!!!.

Don't get discouraged. Some of the other posts have rightly noted that folks are more likely to comment on negative experiences than positive - add to the equation this is the first model year of a new version and if there are production problems they should be covered under warranty. Overall though the MINI is a great little car, fun to drive and the MINI owners' community is a terrific group of people. We have a 2006 MCSa and don't regret the purchase - we're having a blast.

I've heard that as well, that part of their cure was to open some of the holes in the scoop and to permit the pump to run for a bit after shutting the car off.

BUY ONE AGAIN WITH JOY!!

Picked up my 07 MCS(see gallery) in early April, never looked back. Single minor cosmetic issue dealt with, from there on it's been a SCREAM. Every time I drive it, it's just a joy, rippin up the backroads, traveling, you name it. MINI LOVE!!

I have a late year build (august) and I have no problems with my car. I adore it. I was worried that it wouldn't live up to my expectations because I have wanted a mini for SOOO long but it has in every way exceeded what I had hoped for. They car is fantastic to drive. I used to hate driving now my bf and I fight over who gets to drive instead of who has to! Everytime I get into my mini it still brings a smile to my face. It was worth every penny in my opinion for that reason alone. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

There is always something "better" around the corner..next year. But based on recent ownership of 350Z, Rx8, Mazda3, and Miata.....I am very happy with my MCS. It is a fun and very liveable car as a daily commuter and weekender. Only 3000 miles, but no problems and nothing that suggests and reason for regrets.

heck yes I'd buy again!!! I did have the clutch replaced (under warranty) at 107 miles, but that has been my only problem. I bought mine off the lot, so my next one would be spec'd out

Yes, I would buy again. Only trouble would be deciding on a new color... I try not to get the same color car twice. Would probably go with pure silver, and JCW hood scoop and mirrors as accents. Maybe shoe horn in a 426 Hemi for kicks...

Order one; you'll like it : )

I only have 2200 miles, but no problems so far (hot bonnet for me hasn't seemed to effect anything other than just being hot). I'm a little concerned about the longevity considering the high specific output aluminum block, but you just cant get have this kind of fun driving without going more a lot more impractical and higher in price. It would be pretty hard to give up the mini.

After 16000 miles I have no issues. No rattles, weeping, wind noise, or anything. The only times I have been without my MINI is when I have added the JCW tuning kit and the JCW Aero kit.

I have had a wonderful experience and if I had it to do over again I would in a heartbeat.

Yup, In a heartbeat. On second thought dont know I will be buying a new one for a long long time. Mine is exactly 2 months old (August 11 build) and has over 9700 Miles and I just cant stop motoring. I am on a countdown to 1 Million miles +.

The mods have started already - blackout chrome trim, Alta CAI installed today!

I have noticed the wiper weeps but think those are just my MINI shedding Teas of Joy from the quality time we are spending together. I just love my R56 MCS.

MINI Rocks!

I'd definitely buy again. Only problem I had was the weepy wiper jets and my husband drained the factory fluid and put more in and it's been fine. Got rid of the runflats, too. I've been a Toyota girl up until now and I'll probably never go back. I LOVE my Mini!

Yes, and I did also, I had a 2003 MCS with a Works Kit, but had to sell it and went to an Audi S4 (a great car, 340 ho, AWD, Recaros, etc). I really missed my 2003 MCS so I sold the S4 after 3 years and got a 2007 MCS!

BTW, I also own a '66 Austin Cooper S as the photo shows.

Certainly buy again! Our first MINI was an auto. The second is my first manual trans car... I went really stock fearing I'd bust out the trans or something Can't wait for #3... all the options boxes will be ticked

I get a huge grin every day from driving our MINIs!

I was one of the first in the country to get an R56. When we ordered in December, it was a leap of faith--no cars to test (even LOOK at!), no interior pictures, etc. There were so many predictions of crash-and-burn doom for those of us who bought early! They haven't come true. Yes, there are a few niggles--there always are in new cars, new designs, but it hasn't been as much of a problem as I was anticipating.

Problems? A few. Right now I'm waiting for the SZL switch. Not a big deal, mostly nuisance. I do have the hot bonnet, but it hasn't caused a definite problem, more like a "watch this area" now that I'm aware others have. I had to take it back a couple of times to get the secret compartment installed since the early ones came with it bolted shut. And in the earliest ones the cruise control occasionally went off, but a softwear upgrade solved that.

No sunroof issues. No rattles. No weeping windshield wiper jets. No clutch or transmission problems. I've got nearly 10,000 miles on her now, so I think these would have shown up by now. If they're in the future...well, there IS a warranty.

Lots of grooms (and brides, too) have last minute jitters. I did--even started a thread about it. I've seen several other similar threads, too, in the past year. My advice? Don't worry about it.

Oh, I'd order exactly the same car, except that I would have sprung for the rear fogs. Not bad for ticking off never-seen options on a never-seen car!

it's really a matter of what you want in a car...i love my R56 and have gone the JCW route, but have to say for the average car owner, you may find certain aspects frustrating to say the least...sort of like a difficult relationship where the characteristics of the other person give rise to attraction as well as aversion, ie, it's a high maintenance affair which requires a lot of patience and passion...you will learn a lot about yourself in owning this car....mine looks nice to me and is the best performing car I have owned, but it sat at the dealer waiting on a part for a full 4 weeks and it took three days and $400 to repair a simple flat on the runflat tire (i've never had a flat in my other cars for 12 years and this happened the first week - go figure)....still, it's an obsession and lots of nice people own them....cheers!

Definitely! Same exterior color and same interior with the NAV
Currently on the clock are 4500 miles of free mechanical problems. I did have the wind noise problem coming from the sun roof and driver's side door; all fixed by dealer by replacing new seals.

The car is a looker, a sleeper, and a heartbreaker....
Without a spec of doubt; I'd buy again.

Yes I would, and will, buy again! I'm on my 2nd MINI and, unless they really mess up future versions of the car, will never have anything else for my daily driver.
