R56 Should I ask my dealer for a loaner in return for pre-payment?
I sold my car two weeks before I took delivery of my MINI. I rented a car for a week and then my MA found out about my predicament. He lent me his demo car for the rest of my wait. It was a great way to familiarize myself with a broke in MINI while waiting for mine.
I haven't read all the responses yet.
My answer to the original questions is, no, the dealer isn't responsible for crap.
It's your choice to sell your original car earlier than you'd planned. The dealer didn't force you to do that.
Might not be popular, but that's how I see it.

OK, here is an update: My offer has been rejected by the dealer.
Reason: Not enough inventory to provide customers with cars while waiting on orders
They said they could help me get a good deal on a rental though.

About as reasonable an offer as you could expect.
How much would the rental cost you for the time you need it?
Actually, it turns out what they call a good rental deal is still something like $600 a month! Where are you guys getting $300 a month car rentals?
I say go with a beater car. Even if you lose a little money on it, it will still be less than a rental. Try craigslist. You might even be able to find someone to ''loan'' you one on there for less than a rental.
Maybe even try to barter that you will fix up the car for the exchange of driving it, if you have the ability to do so. Again just put it out there, the worst thing that can happen is no one bites.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I made a special arrangement with a buyer who is very interested in my BMW. I am going to take $600 off my selling price in return for selling the car when my MCS arrives late November or early December. So basically I will be "renting" my car to myself for $600 for 2 months. Not a bad deal!
