I believe it's all or nothing. You can't selectively dis(en)able DSC and ASC.

LSD in my opinion is a must for a fwd car with any amount of power to play with. DSC is definatly a safety feature I want.

white turn signals I don't care about, anthresite head liner is nice but $200??,

Keyless entry, having just experienced the fun of it 45 mins ago, I want it.

The whole DSC question & debate has been done to death...

Just head on over and check out this thread:

The Great DSC Thread (merged)

Bottom line, the DSC is very, very good stuff, and 99% of the complaints are really about the ASC features, not DSC. Since you can't avoid having ASC installed on a new MINI, it takes that out of the argument. The additional technology included in DSC is absolutely worth it, IMO.

I'm in sunny Hawaii and while I like to have a warm seat on a cold morning it's probably only as cold as about 65 in Feb and mostly 72-78 for the rest of the year most of the time.

I did rent a car in Hawaii with heated seats and turned them on for fun. The fun lasted about 5 seconds then I turned it off.

I don't think it will be easy to determine the options for the perfect MINI unless you qualify what region of the country or for purpose the MINI is being used- street only, showcar or track/performance driving.

For good weather some would argue that the cabrio is perfect

For the performance minded- 6 speed with Limited slip differential and sports suspension no DSC. Even the JCW kit.

For the comfort minded- lounge leather (heated seats is needed) and Multifunction steering wheel

And what about color for the "perfect MINI"?????

I'm completly aware of the numerous possibilities....i'm just looking at various opinions on different options. As in, which do most people think are worth it and which people are here or there on....sorta interesting.

As far as color...wow there are so many that I like and all of them look good.

With money being tight for me I may go with Mellow Yellow/Black with stripes. In an ideal world though, Laser Blue/Black with stripes looks incredible to me.

Sport suspension- yes! I think the handling for regular driving is awesome! Love those curves!
I live in SoCal and got the cold weather package because I travel all over the place. On extended road trips, the heated seats keep my back limber. And Chappie knows I'm pro-sports suspension.

You can turn off the DSC using the designated toggle switch. Or do you mean that even with that turned off, the ASC still engages? That is something I am not sure about, but I am sure plenty of other folks will clarify it.

I think the question was: Can you turn off the ASC, but leave the DSC active? The short answer being no, since there's only one button.

Correct. But oh boy do I wish they gave us that option, to turn off the ASC features but still leave on the "unique to DSC" features! If I'm not mistaken, some BMWs allow this... the 2006 M3 I test drove last year did - it had two DSC-type buttons, but the problem is I couldn't tell which was which from the symbol alone.

My question was, if you do not order the DSC option, do you still have a button on the console or something else that gives you the ability to turn off ASC?

Ah! Yes, there's a button for the ASC in front of the shift boot that lets you turn it off. (Which is replaced by one that says DSC if you get the DSC option.)
