This is odd the intermittent feature on my car is completely adjustable.
I drive a Honda Pilot in foul weather. very rarely do my toys ever go out the rain. Where is the wiper level in a mini? I buy cars like the mini stripped, wipers could be an option.

"Actually much of the electrical gadgets, such as lights are also intermittent."
Very good, Chili. Perhaps your MG's electrics were from the Prince Darkness, Joseph Lucas. I also have vivid, occasionally scary--memories of vacuum powered wipers. For example, on every American car I owned--I stopped owning American cars in about 1963 excepting the foolish purchase of a Ford Explorer, a car that in conjuction with the Firestone Tire and Ruebber Company, tried its best to kill my daughter. It was lucky that I taught her how to manage a car that was trying to do you in. But in a '46 Chevy, trying to climb a hill or get up to "speed" on a freeway in the rain was scary. The wipers more or less stopped. If you let up on the gas to let the wipers work, you risked getting hit from behind by a driver in a similar car who couldn't see through the windscreen. Those were the bad old days indeed.

Happy New Year,
Joe

Are you asking how to set the wiper speed in a Mini?

I think MINI just doesn't want to reprint the owners manual for this little change, but the MAs and SAs should definitely know how it functions!
I had a client that this happened to and we didn't catch the difference in wiper stalks. He brought his car back because the intermittant wiper function no longer worked as described in the manual after SZL replacement. That is when we found the button and new function.
The SZL module is the turn signal, wiper/washer levers and module built together. I think the button appears on the updated SZL modules and of course the updated part is used on later production vehicles.
My 11/07 production car has the button, but my manual is the same as earlier versions. I was even supplied an additional manual that included info on the new tire pressure system and cruise contol indication in the tach screen, but no info on intermittant wiper button.
I have not been notified by MINI as to the change, although this tidbit of info may be buried in a parts bulletin somewhere when SZL modules were changed.

I did have the SZL done, and it was at that time it went to the button operation, but I am nearly 100% sure that I had the button before. I remember pushing it to see if it activated the rear window washer...
