How long before getting a production #?
We placed our order 9/5. The MA says the car is being built but has not gotten the production # yet. It's been over 2 weeks. The ETA was 6 weeks. Is something wrong?
If the car is in production, you should have a production number. If it's just "on order" at the dealer, it could be the dealer has to wait for their allotment. I had to wait almost 1 month before I got a production number.
In order to get any info from ASK MINI you need either a VIN or a production number so calling them without either won't help.
Absolutely correct. I had a long wait to get mine as well.

If your MA can't give you a build number, then it's NOT in production. The progression is:
- Place Order
- Receive Build #
- Scheduled for Production
- Goes into Production / Car gets VIN
I got my production # about 4 days after I had placed my order at the dealership. When they called to give me the #, they were also giving me the day for the start of production (which is actually TODAY 9/21/07).
If I go to the owner's lounge, the thing says "scheduled for production"...so I know the process is at least underway.

If you do not have a production number and the dealer can not give you one, then your car has not received a slot for production yet.
I placed order with the dealer 9-08, got a production number on 9-11 and got a VIN on 9-14. Car started production on 9-17 and was finished by 9-20. It is now "awaiting transport". My experience so far with the owner's lounge seems to have been accurate so far. We shall see if that remains true during transport and delivery. Good luck!
