R56 "Sidewalk" Edition

I just acquired my first Mini a month ago but already have my eye on a sparkling silver "Sidewalk" edition. Great-looking interior. Would like to hear from those who already have one of these beauties and your likes/dislikes. Make us drool.

There is no Sidewalk R56. Its only in the convertible which is still based on the previous car - its an R52 I believe.

Well I have my little MINI sidewalk...it's really just beautiful. I was going to put bonnet stripes on it, but I've gotten so much feedback to the contrary, that I've decided to leave them off. One of these days I'll get around to taking some good pictures to show her off.

I love the way this car looks, and the interior is GORGEOUS. I get compliments on my car everyday...everyone loves the color first, and talk about how cool MINIs are, then they notice the interior and say WOW. Driving with the top down is even more fun because of the attention people pay to the interior.

Oh, plus the wheels are really great-looking. I've had so many compliments on the super cool wheels. Everything about the car is sporty and cool!

Hope you are loving your MINI as much as I am loving mine! Yours sounds like a beauty...All MINIs are really pretty special, if you ask me...but then I've become rather biased .

Enjoy!

Sidewalk is a package only available on the convertibles. Basically Premium + Sport + special wheels, seats, trim, and chrome line interior.

I must say that the Sidewalk package is gorgeous, and something I'd definitely get if getting a ragtop. I've posted quite a bit the past few days in the Gen1 Cabrio forum.

It's a $4000 option package, which might sound like a lot, but if you price the Premium and Sport packages separately, along with leather seats, those three options add up to $4100, plus there's the fact that the Sidewalk seats, wheels, and interior surface options aren't available "a la carte".

Also, I think the sidewalk package is only available with the green, black, red and sparkling silver exterior colours.

My mistake sorry---"Sidewalk" is only available on convertibles.

Sounds like you've got the best, Tamson-- That chrome interior pkg & malt leather seats truly make me drool... heh heh-- and you've got MY color! I just might find an excuse to wander over to Claremont one day and look for your car in the Grizwalds parking lot... (make sure you use your car alarm in case I can't control myself...) Are you gonna do the stripes? It's a hard choice.

I've got a hang-up with convertibles--- If you drive with the top down a lot---doesn't everything get all ICKY? There's a lot of crap in the air. I'd probably be wiping everything down daily. Has it worked out okay?

Well, my wife and I each have almost 20k miles on our convertibles, and the rear seatback upholstery does get filthy pretty quickly. It shows up on her Cordoba beige interior more than on my dark blue, but the occasional wipedown with leather cleaner/conditioner takes it up pretty easily. I don't know what we'd do if we had cloth seats, though.

I think a lot of it has to do with the way the air flows over the car with the top down, because since we added the factory wind deflectors to both cars, it's cut down on the rear seat dirt drastically.

Regardless, everything in the interior except the carpet is hard plastic or leather, so it cleans up pretty easily. And with the floormats, there's very little exposed carpet.
