Picked up our MCS on April 17. We've gone over 4,000 miles without any significant problems. We bought one tank of bad gas and it didn't start well the next morning. Talked to my SA on the phone who advised me on the problem and how to fix it, but it ran fine after that morning. My whole family loves the car.

 

Just great! Couple of "problems"--cruise control reprogramming, secret compartment installation. Can't fault the car, really.

It IS in the shop today--"snapping" sound in the clutch pedal. It's a niggle, but I'd rather get it fixed. Supposed to be a bushing, or something like that. I have a loaner, so it's no big deal.

That's all I can think of. Week 3 build, and 7500 non-commuting miles so far!

 

This describes me perfectly. 3 weeks, 1200 miles and counting, and not a single issue (knock on wood). I wouldn't trade my MINI for anything. I have never enjoyed a car this much, and I'm a big car guy.

 

No serious problems and I love it. It's a perfect combination of performance, economy and comfort.

 

somewhere around 3,500 miles, and my only issue was the new clutch at 107 miles. Besides that no problems, and I love my car!!!

 

I picked up my BRG/W MCS in March. I love my MINI!! No problems.

Let's see, just broke 2000 miles this past weekend. We picked up the car July 6th and have been extremely fortunate not having any issues. Looking back, there were a couple of things, and noticed that I said 'were'; that really bugged me after the purchase. One, the run flats were terrible on irregular roads, and the sunroof did not have a solid shade. I have a 16" set up and have sunroof shades... These were minor but really bugged me,

This past weekend, my wife and I took it out of the city for the first time. Heading to the Texas hill country, it performed beyond my expectations. It was such a joy to stretch its legs, hit the curves, and push the car hard.
We did a +200 mile trip averaging 32 MPG, I cannot complaint.

Reliability= Excellent
Fun Factor= Excellent
Value for the $$$= Excellent

Considering a second MINI for my wife down the road...

Little over 2600 miles.no problems so far,i alternate between the r56 and r53.Can't say i love either one,love my wife and my Greyhound.Q

My issues so far:
At 10k miles since arrival in 02/07 -

• New clutch, throwout bearing and flywheel at 2,000 miles, 4,000 miles and now acting up since around 6,000 miles.
  Xenons were adjusted way too low when delivered - adjusted.
• Center stack replaced because of a faulty fan control - new center console fixed the problem.
• Tach display has developed intermittent lines in the LCD.
• Sunroof seal blewout at 4000 miles - replaced and seems fine now.

Still happy? Yeah it's better than when the 02s came out - but am I thrilled? Not with all the trips to the dealership.

 

1. Wifes CR/W MINI Cooper, Oct build, perfect. I mean, not one single issue. My DS/W Cooper S, June build, perfect. Just bl*ody fantastic

2. My previous 'S' rejected for the excessive 'diesel' engine sound (others have mentioned it here). Still loved it, didn't put me off another, in fact the new one is better 'cos I learnt from the previous one which bits aren't worth the money, the replacement car has the perfect spec for me now

3. Yes, problems. I'm considering early retirement so I can drive all day , and I might need corrective surgery to remove the permanent grin. Can I sue them for that?

4. Can you reject cars in the USA? (Is that the Lemon Law?) If so, why not just steam into the dealer and hand it back? Sorry for those that have had problems, I know how disheartening it can be - and maybe it's easier here (UK) to throw it back at them.......

 

You can't just turn a car back in, because you don't like it. Plus, to Lemon Law it, the defect has to be material and affect safety and/or value. Most, but not all, of the complaints voiced by MINI owners wouldn't qualify.

If the car suffers a material fault, and/or the car is not perfect, then you have the right to reject it (UK law). Yes, it's not easy because the dealer will probably want the chance to fix it, which you may or may not be happy with, and most people weigh up the odds of how serious the fault is and whether they would be happy with a fix - then badger the dealer for some free goodies as compensation.

My first one was rejected for intermittent, excessive engine noise (seriously loud and an obvious fault). I took recordings of a normal start and of the howling racket, put them on CD and sent them to the dealer and MINI Customer Service (which is poor IMO), I also had a record of every conversation through the whole saga. The garage admitted there was no fix for it, so replacement was ordered. Not an easy process, a pain in the backside, but worth it.

Regarding whether the fault is material and/or safety, both would be grounds for rejection here. During the first 6 months of ownership the courts put the responsibility on the garage to prove it isn't faulty, taking the side of the buyer - in other words, they say a fault in the first 6 months 'proves' it was faulty from new and not 'fit for the purpose sold'.

Over 6 months of ownership, then you have a fight on your hands; the responsibility is then with the buyer to prove it was faulty at the time of purchase.

Look on the bright side, even if it's easier to reject over here, our fuel costs a fortune, the weather is crap and a drive from east to west of over 4 hours puts you in the sea

We're still envious/in admiration of your cheaper petrol, your way of life (leisure-wise), your sun 'n snow, number of race tracks (for me anyway!) and much more.

 

I'd say that I'm a #1 - clearly in love. I have to add that I've only had Pippin for a month though, and I've got less than 1000 miles. I hope that I stay a #1 for a long time!

So far my biggest complaints are cup holder liners coming out and making the bluetooth work correctly with my phone.

4000 miles so far... ZERO problems (knock wood)

 

Purchased 3/31/07...5,600 miles. We absolutely love the car! It is exactly what we expected...fun to drive, economical at the pump, and good for the ego. It delivers on all fronts!

 

This is my second "early build" MINI and I fully expected an item or two to need sorting out. I'm glad to say that the car has been great and I only had a CEL and a piece of beltline trim go bad...both dealt with easily. This car is darn good...I'd buy another in a heartbeat!!!
