100 Octane

I found a gas station by my house that carry 100 octane fuel. What's you guys opinion on that? Will 100 octane fuel be good for our R56? Thanks

100 octane will only aide you, if your car is tuned to run on 100 octane. putting 100 octane in your car just to do it will not help much

If your car is running fine and not pinging, then there's no need to use 100 octane. Just throwing your money away.

How much ethanol is in it? Keep in mind that ethanol is corrosive to engine parts.

Try it. It definately makes a difference in the R56. I usually mix it about 50/50 with 91 since thats all we have here. I don't care what people say, it makes a big difference in the R56. I had an R53 before and did not notice any difference. Maybe it has something to do with the ECU allowing more timing and boost with the turbo.

It's the 76 gas station that carry this 100 octane fuel. I think I am going to mix it 50/50 like you. I was told that they are good for Euroupean sports car. Thanks guys.

I use 100 for track days now. I'm not on my third engine and don't want to get a fourth. I do dirty dirty things to my engine for long periods of time. If you do also you need to be running 100. It's not for the performance but for its ability to not allow premature detonation. That makes pistons and rings break. Trust me on this one.

It depends wether or not its leaded or unleaded.

I wouldnt suggest using leaded gas in any car newer than 1981. Leaded gas such as Cam2 (109, 112 and 114) will mess up O2 sensors and Cats.

Unleaded high octane (over 94) will help out in high compression cars, or cars that use a forced induction power adder.

I run 100 octane TurboBlue in my GTO and the Impulse. It gives me piece of mind when I crank up the boost past 20 or 25 psi on the Impulse knowing that I dont have to worry about detonation because of bad fuel.

The "leaded versus unleaded" is a good point. There's a station in Virginia Beach that has 100-octane and 110-octane for the same price, but the catch is that the 110-octane is leaded, and isn't legal for street use.

I think the 110-octane leaded at that station is illegal for street use even if you have an older car without a catalytic converter - it has something to do with the fact that the price doesn't include the taxes that are added for gas that's going to be used on public streets.)

running 100 octane creates a knock free enviroment for the most part... no knock no pull in timing.. no pull in timing... you get ALL the power she can make... plus she'll just run better...

I have a hard enough time finding stations with at least 92 octane.

We have one station in my area that sells CAM2. You can't get in the place on a friday night. Race trailers and rods line the side of the highway for a 1/4 mile.

The way to get around the legality of running leaded race gas in a street car is to dispense it into a container before putting it into a vehicle.

The gas stations that sell CAM2 here will not allow the gas to be pumped directly into a vehicle, and they have a larger spout on the nozzle to prevent it.

Its only good if you infact need it due to ignition timing and/or boost and make sure of this, THAT IT'S UNLEADED RACE FUEL!

If you're gonna be on a track during a hot summer day, doing lap after lap after lap, 100 octane will be a lot safer for your engine than running 91-93 octane. Plus you get a small increase in performance.

Here's a list of 76 gas stations that sell 100 octane gas.
