R56 Sunshade work around
Sunshade work around
I asked MINI to fix the sunshade when car was in this week to repair shipping damage to wheel well trim. They re-torqued the tension on the shade and now it does not slide open all the time BUT it also never completely CLOSES. Not GREAT DESIGN or a great repair job.
Until they come up with a real FIX , I have devised a work around fix. Not exactly elegant , but it seems to work.(pics attached) I attached some hard side heavy duty velcro around the leading edge of the corrner of the interior sunroof opening. At the same time I attached the soft side (may require double thickness) on the edge of the sunshade on an angle so as the sunshade wants to slide back the velcro creates resistance and holds the sunshade in place.
Kind of a Rube Goldberg fix
but I find the sunshade setup on the R56 a definite step backwards form the R50/r53 that had an attachment handle.
If anyone has a better idea, let me know.
