nope

in fact, with that code thrown I can not even get plates or register the car, we have yearly emissions tests

any codes stored in the computer will fail you

no way in hell I will keep this car if it keeps throwing codes

the software update may fix it, or they may be blowing smoke, we shall see

No offense to anybody on the forums that may work at that dealership, but I think most of the "mechanics" that work in that service department don't fully know what they are talking about or doing. Words of advice, check your paint carefully after they work on your car.

Anyway, they reset the light telling me that the software update hadn't come out yet and that by the next time the light came on they should have it and would reflash my computer. Well sure enough it came on about 1500 miles later and they still couldn't update my computer.

If you have a MCSa and have definitely gotten your computer updated recently please let me know. Thanks.
V.26 of the SW has been available for about a month now.

How can you fail an emissions test when the code may or may not be related to emissions?
MINI have been pretty good previously with pushing code fixes so I don't see how now will be any different.

I had that CEL problem... Took it back to the dealer at no small inconveience to me, and they found nothing. I noticed a performance difference with the car, nothing earth shattering, and the exhaust would putter.
It hasn't come back, but overall, I am underwhelmed by the service Dept at Ottos. They didn't do everything I asked, ( I wanted to pick it up with floormats. Shouldda got them from MA, not SA)
I am not the first person who was disappointed or miffed with Ottos.

that is the law here, any check engine light on the dash is an instant failure

Bought our MC in March and have no CEL after 4,500 miles. On our recommendation, our Daughter and Son in Law bought a new MC last week and had one come on during the first tank of gas. Computer needed updated. Why would our earlier built car be ok and their new one needs a computer update? Hope they don't have recurrences as it is a PITA to miss work and wait around for 2 hours while they fix it.

I've got pretty much the same thing going on. Wife just called with the CEL on and she is on a long out-of-town trip. We're right about the 1200 mile mark on our MCSa (so much for the MCa-only theory). It will go back to Momentum in a couple of weeks. It will just have to sit for now because I'll be out of town. I'll post the results here.

No performance issues with the car, except that there seemed to be slight pulse at idle when I last drove it. Almost imperceptible, but the tach needle would move slightly up and down.

Only other thing wrong so far is that the dash dim switch doesn't do anything when I push it and the dash lights seem to be permanently set on a dimmer setting.
