Oil Changen plus more

Hi guys, my car just hit 2000km. We have no mini dealer in our country so i will just take it to some car shops. I just want to know some facts so that the car shop won't make a mistake.

1.) After cooling down the engine overnight and you want to check the dip stick, what oil level should the dip stick indicate?

2.) I juist checked mine and the level is exactly halfway between the minimum and maximum marker. Is this normal? (this is the original oil my mini came with)

3.) How much oil does the mini use?

1) I should read the max level that is in the oil pan, usualy full or just about

2) That is normal if that is how much they put into your car, you can top it off if you want. It is possible your car burned it off since during the brake in period the piston ring clearence is not perfect yet and allowed some to be combusted.

3) 3.6L i believe with a filter.

Everybody has an opinion on when to do that first oil change, but I think "anytime now" would be good.

The Mini book tells me that the MC and the MCs both take 4.4 US quarts (4.16L) for an oil change. The oil level at the halfway mark is absolutely normal for the MC during breakin. When refilling top up to the upper level after engine gets up to temp. Do not overfill.

Use fully synthetic (not a blend) 5-30 weight oil. The recommended oil is Castrol Syntech, but Mobil 1 is also good.

I used motul 300v 5w30. I'm not sure if the car shop over filled the mini because i cannot see the dip stick clearly.... If you exceed the max level by 2-3 ridge of the dipstick, is it bad for the engine?

Yes, it is bad to overfill. One way to read the dipstick is to lay it on a paper towel and see where it absorbs the oil.
