Hello MY owners!
I recently picked up a 2009 MY JCW -(11,000 miles). I had a new 2008 MY MCS ( loved it ) , but sold it to get the Elise. I have missd my MINI ever since. So when I found the low mileage MY JCW -I jumped on it. I love the JCW torque and power and I sure love the color.

My Jcw had custom black and yellow leather installed by the dealer when new. I think it is very unique.

My mellow yellow MCS is naked now. I removed the bonnet vinyl stripes last night. I decided to try auto detailing so I figured I have a "clean" look

Took me less than 5 minutes. They are not the OEM but from cooper flag. I used a hairdryer on hot setting and for about 20 seconds and started peeling from the top corner. About 1/4 way, I used the hairdryer again till both stripes came off. No sticky stuff at all beneath the vinyl stripes. Stripes never tored when I pulled it off.

There was a tiny bit of wax build up on the edges of the strip. I used goo gone to remove with paper towels. After the fact, I realized I shouldn't have used paper towel.

I am going to try detailing my car using clay bar next week so I figured I have the "clean" look so it would be easier.

In the future, I may possibly add the stripes back and also on the boot.

I have the sport stripes on the bonnet & boot, not looking to remove them really but was just curious if I could and how easy it would be. Did you notice any sunfade issues in the paint?

Very slight fading. I have to look closely to see it but it is not noticeable unless you are actually looking for it.

I had it on since July or August 2009. (the stripes)

That would be my biggest concern... I'm roughly the same time period as you. I picked up mine brand new in June '09 with the stripes installed at the dealer prior to pickup.

I'll probably never remove them, but was curious none the less.

I was thinking the same, to take off the bonnets but
Am worried about fading. Mine is a little older than yours and think most def if I want to take them off, I'll need to paint the car so I don't have a two tone mellow yellow. Post some pica silvia when you get a chance

Great pics in this thread!

My 03 was Liquid Yellow / White with bonnet stripes - loved that look. When I went shopping I was really hoping to find Mellow Yellow / Black, but I ended up with a Laser Blue / Black.

Don't get me wrong - I love the color, but will always always have a soft spot for yellow!

I know this isn’t the for sale forum but since ya’ll speaking of black and yellow seats, I still have a set of these laying around.

125 bucks includes shipping anywhere in the US.

Mark

PS. The covers shown here are the ones that were in my car but the pic is taken when they were brand new. They were about 7-8 months old when I took them out... just being up front, they’re not torn or in bad condition at all, just didn’t want to insinuate they were brand new.

Hey Mark.

What kind of care/maintenance can you do with these covers? Are they machine washable. Unfortunately my MINI is in the dealership getting engine parts replaced. I'll PM you once I get it back, hopefully you still have them then.

Thanks!

Chris

Hello from El Paso

This is my second yellow Mini. At first my first choice wasn't yellow, but I'm glad that is the color I went with. You don't see them too often and that makes them unique.

Is there somewhere I can find how many MY JCWs were produced?

That'd be interesting to find out how many MY's were produced. No idea how to find out, tho.

El Paso: same here. My first choice was BRG, but it was too dark. Found my MY at the dealer's lot with all the options I wanted in it, so color was secondary. Now I'm really happy with it.
