Actually, my MA said that MY/W was the rarest of rare. My guess is all-MY would be next most popular and MY/B would be after that.

Lucky that I visited a dealer with a large inventory to see the colors and sit in the interiors.

This quickly put my previous color choice out of contention and Mellow Yellow with Black stood out above all (PW/B would have been a distant second choice and that had been true from configurator as well).
I'm with you here. I wasn't sold by the configurator, but when I saw one in person, I immediately fell in love. I had wanted a CR/W for so long, it took me a month to fully change my mind, but I don't regret it at all...I love the MY!

When we were purchasing our all-MY car, the finance person at the dealer mentioned to us that a MY/B car had just been bought by a person who was going to name it Bumblebee.

It took me awhile to get used to it, but now I wouldn't have anything else but MY. It certainly attracts attention, which is a good thing in So Cal rushhour traffic.

Coen, are your doors a custom job? I've not seen dark colored doors and a light colored oval insert before.

I have the same door color combo. I just picked it on the configurator when I ordered my MINI.

Coen, did you have to get the color line custom installed or is still an option on the JCW? I ordered an 09 MCS and they stopped offering the yellow color line. I got the dash pieces custom installed after the car arrived, but decided against the door pieces. I can't believe they stopped offering the yellow. That's the best looking color line in my opinion.

BTW, love the aero kit. I never saw what it looked like on the MY, but I really like it.

I must've missed seeing it. There were (are) a lot of options from the factory, so I'm not surprised I missed at least one or two of them.

it is no longer an option. I asked my friend who is a dealer and he told me that is it no longer an option. He didn't know why but almost for one year it is not possible to order it.

Cheers

Surprised that they would drop what had been one of the best looking interior 'Color-Line' options.

A similar 'Yellow interior Color trim' has been featured in MINI Publicity Photo Releases for both the '500' Electric MINI's and the new R57 Cabrio's.

That looks so sweet. I don't get why they would drop the color line from the standard coupes...and only for yellow.

At any rate, for those interested, I retrofitted my 09 with the 08 trim. I had the dealer do it when it came in, but you can get all the parts for a couple hundred bucks.

They must've removed the option just as I started looking. The yellow interior line is nice, but it's not really for me. I really like the oak dashboard, and the light-colored oval door inserts would have been nice, but I'm not unhappy with my black ovals.

In that picture it looks like the inside yellow trim is the same yellow as the exterior. It's too bad the current yellow inside trim isn't as close a match as that. It looks good still, but doesn't match perfectly. I'm still hunting down yellow leather that matches the color line so Redline Goods can make me shift/brake boots that match exactly.

When I first saw that that Color Line was dropped,
I assumed that it was because it did not match the "Mellow Yellow" color of the car exactly.

Perhaps if the Cabrio is Mellow Yellow (it can look so different, depending on lighting),
they will soon again offer interior yellow color-line that will be a better match for the Mellow Yellow Coupes.

For my MINI (w/ standard leatherette interior) I added plenty of yellow, but more for seating comfort, than the color:

Link to High Resolution of above photo: [click here] this was also not a 'perfect' color match,
it is a lighter yellow and the other choice had been a darker yellow.

I just realized there's another Mellow Yellow Stella here already...
I guess the name is not as original as I thought.
