That scenario raises some interesting questions and possibilities. It would mean being able to do away with taillights altogether, as preselected portions of the rear of the car could be programmed to turn red, rather than "body color" when the lights were turned on. Brake lights could theoretically be the entire rear of the car glowing bright red. Rear fog lights would be a matter of programming, not added hardware or wiring.
The real interesting question is what would happen as it got dark outside. The LEDs would have to dim so that you wouldn't have all of these brightly lit cars running around in the dark. Can you imagine the visual distraction of that?
so does anyone have confirmation on when the 08's will be available to order? i called my local dealer today, and all he said was "why would you want an 08 when the 07 just came out". I told him that I still wanted to wait, and I just wanted an idea on when I would be able to place an order, and we went back and forth for a minute before I finally gave up and ended the call. The guy was really being rude about it and wouldn't even attempt to answer my question. maybe he was trying to bully me into getting one right away? I'm really not sure how much more horrible service I can recieve by Mini/Bmw employees before I just abandon this car altogether...
thanks for the info! You'd think the dealer would have known that. I'm going to call mini customer service on Monday to confirm that info.
sidenote: I am REALLY getting tired of the arrogance of Mini dealers. I'm about to give this guy 30 grand for a car and he's talking to me like I'm a ******* for asking a simple question. If they're acting like this now, how are they going to act when my car has a problem?

Unfortunately some of the sales guys tend to act like that because let's face it, the car sells itself and they know it! It's a drag, but well worth any hassle IMO to get the sweetest car on the road!
we have been told that the 2008's will be December production meaning that the cars will arrive (and keep in mind i am in California so we have a little longer wait then those on the east coast) at the end of January early February just as the 2007 launch was. And it will include the clubman and a few changes to the R56 but we do not have any official changes to the R56 or word on what the clubman will look like
Proof that dealers DON'T get their info from the internet.I'll help ya out Amanda...

Have you ever bought a toyota and your salesman or woman respond to people on board like NAM. The time you rememer their name is because there is a problem or you want to throttle the person. For Amanda to respond at all it putting herself out their, good or bad. I do understand that she wants to sell cars though and thats a good thing because we want to buy them. **Sorry for the getting away from the original topic.
That's the rumor on MINI2: http://www.mini2.com/forum/2nd-gen-e...ming-back.html
we do not know of new colors yet... all that we get are emails that have spy shots (and they are the same shots that are already posted here.... Bringing back the jet black would be pretty sweet we have 3 MINI's in my house
i have a silk green 03, and a GP and my dad has a 2005 Jet Black MCS
... it would be cool to have all 3 MINI's discontinued or limited run colors... but at the same time a true black would be nice to have again!

Black is a popular color among sports car owners and it was not a good move not to offer it from the beginning of R56. Maybe MINI was feeling greedy and wanted make few more bucks with 'metallic' black.
