MCS owners, where do you shift??

MCS owners, at what RPMs do you shift for normal driving? Also does the ECU adapt to driving style? im at 2000 miles and have been shifting around 3000-4000. i finally gased it full throttle a few times recently and noticed that it wasnt as fast as the dealer car i tested. now, i know the dealer car is driven hard and beat on daily, so the ECU has adapted to that making it more responsive. i would like my car to drive the same but not have to drive the sh@$ out of it every day to get it to perform that way. where is the safe comprimise of performance VS engine longevity.

I tend to shift between 4000-5000. Wondering if that's why I'm only getting 28mpg (OB computer) in my L.A. city driving. I rarely get it into 5th and 6th gears, except when I get on the freeway.

Varies with how fast I'm accelerating, whether I'm climbing or going down hill, and what speed I'm trying to reach. I'm trying to keep it under 4500 because I've only got about 600 miles on it.

Try the Sport button. It will make a big difference.

For ''normal" driving, I tend to shift when I reach 3000 - 3500 RPM. Whenever I reach cruising speed (be it 30 mph, 40 mph, etc...depending on posted speed limit) I try to stay in a gear that keeps me around 2500 to 2800. If I slow down to 2200 RPM, then I down shift to keep the revs up...

For "spirited" driving, I keep both hands on the wheel and let 'er rip!! I usually don't look at the tach and just listen to the motor. And when my heart is pounding, my arms have goose bumps, and the hair on the back of my neck is sticking straight out, I know it's time to shift...

Gas milage is indeed a function of how hard you drive. To check tap on your column stalk and watch the variablility in your mpg as you shift. With careful driving I can get near 35 mpg in a combination of slow and highway driving. Oh yes, premium gas is $3.99 a gallon here.

Like k7, I like keeping it in the high two thousands. On the freeway, I'll be around 3000 or so.

For routine driving, I up-shift around 3500ish RPM. If I'm in a rush to achieve the speed limit, 4000 or 5000. I often find that by the time I'm almost done using 4th gear, I'm at highway speed and might as well just put it in 6th and back off.

I have an '06, so my Sport-button is always on.
