Traffic Light Viewer

I got that traffic light viewer lens and put it on last night. It works much better than I thought. Since putting it on, I haven't come across a traffic light I couldn't see anyway. Nonetheless, I can tell it's useful. I can see the tops of trees. The lens was dicsussed on NAM, but I couldn't find the thread. I don't remember the name of the vendor, but I can find it tonight and post it. 12 bucks well spent.

You couldn't find it b/c it used your favoite term "red light"

Did you get one mentioned there? I'm seriously considering it, the view is pretty awful!

LOL, roo. Yeah, that's it. www.lightinsight.com. It's a big help, actually. It's easier to see the lights in the R56 than it was in the R53, but it's still a big help.

Mine came in a regular envelope. So, if your order it, be careful not to throw it in the trash as junk mail.

It is different isn't it? I know you weren't asking me, rooandren, but I'm not absolutely sure I'll get one...I would like to check it out though. I've been driving a MINI since 1/03 and I guess I've adjusted somehow....weird, huh? Anyway, it does seem useful.

Frankly, I don't see the risk in getting it, unless $12 is hard for you. It just sticks on by friction. So, if you don't like it, just peel it off. You could throw it in the glovebox until your neck begins to hurt, or give it to the kids or dog to play with.

Not that you asked , but proximity to the light in Boston is a very tricky game. There's lots of narrow streets and tight corners, so I like to stay back to give plenty of space to people turning in front of me. On the other hand, I like to pull way up to lessen people riding up my ****! Maybe I will go with the look-out-the-sunroof method.

I ordered one today. Nice find LynnEl. That is the first thing I noticed about Romi. I have to set so far from the windshield (I can stretch my arm as far towards the windshield as possible and still have 6 to 10 inches left to go) that lights are completely hidden if I am anywhere within 3 cars of the intersection.

I feel like I have to stand on me head to see them. While I am sure Romi finds this quite funny (not to mention other drivers.....I am sure they think it is due to trying to look up women's skirts at the mall,..uh TMI?), I find it to be awkward at best, painful at worst.

Thanks LynnEl! Being a tall man whose hair brushes the ceiling on the typical car, I've been looking for something like this for a long, long time. I even bought a prism once in hopes that maybe I could mount it in a place that would allow me to see hanging traffic lights without moving forward and craning my neck. It didn't work out. This looks like it'll go a long way toward solving that decades long problem. Again .. Thanks!

I came up with a different solution to this problem. I live in a county with no traffic lights. I have noticed the problem on trips to the Big City and found myself using the sun roof.

Glad to be of service, but I can't lay claim to the find.... Someone else had posted a link to the vendor before, which I posted below (or above, depending on how you have your posts set).

Now, Skuzzy, the best place to do that in the mall is by the escalator. Ever wonder why they always put the little garden and benches there?? So the men will leave the women alone to shop.

I wonder if it is legal in California? I understand there is some law saying you can't attach anything to the windshield.

I don't know about CA, but it aids, not obstructs, vision. It is clear and it is small. Your rearview mirror blocks more window space and this thing sits parallel or higher up on the windshiled than your mirror. Sounds legal to me: Notwithstanding subdivision (a), transparent material may be installed, affixed, or applied to the topmost portion of the windshield if the following conditions apply: Notwithstanding subdivision (a), transparent material may be installed, affixed, or applied to the topmost portion of the windshield if the following conditions apply......
