"Not for use on MINIs with Navigation package"

I was looking for a stubby antenna and found a nice one on CooperSport.com http://www.coopersport.com/usa/Micro...a-p-16312.html

However, it says, "Not for use on MINIs with Navigation package."

Who's using a stubby with the NAV? Which is it, and how's it working?

The antenna goes in the tire?

The GPS antenna is in the base. The antenna mast is for the radio and shouldn't affect the GPS. I think the CooperSport description is probably incorrect.

Okay. Definitive explanation.

The current description refers only to the R50 and R53 models where the Nav models did not have an antenna mast at all, only a shark fin. With the new R56 models MINI now incorporates the antenna mast into the Nav fin. Surely a cost saving measure.

The Micro Antenna we sell is compatible with ALL models years and with R56 models with OR without Nav. The R56 MINIs have a different thread bore than the earlier models but we supply both barrel sizes to fit either application.

Hope that answers your questions. If need any other assistance please let me know. I will update the description on the web store.

Cheers.

Thanks for the explanation, but it is a little too late for me. I already ordered and received one from Craven Speed.

So, does it fit into your R56's antenna mount?

I'm guessing you got one of these?

http://www.cravenspeed.com/index.php...9386126d8a6bdb

Which one? Stubby or super stubby?

It's a shame the Coopersport Micro Antenna can't screw into the R56 mount

http://www.coopersport.com/usa/Micro...a-p-16312.html

The chrome one looks cool.

Yes, the Stubby (long one). Select Model Year 2007-2008 and it screws right on.

That is polished aluminum, not chrome. Since the fin base is black, I would go for the black anodized one, even though my roof is Pure Silver.

To reiterate my explanation above, the Micro Antenna ships with both barrel thread inserts so that it WILL fit ALL model years MINIs including the new R56.

Cheers!

I am wondering if a 4" antenna can replace the stock one without diminishing radio reception? I am asking because when one of my cars' power antenna was broken and only went half way up, I could definitely tell a big difference in reception.

Yeah. In that case, you are using the same antenna. All things being equal, the same antenna will often give better reception if it is longer. But a well-engineered antenna of short length, is better than a long piece of metal.

Cooper,
Would you know if there is any affect on the CELL PHONE part of the antenna? I'm getting the convience pkge which includes the bluetooth option with a cell phone connector in armrest (that includes +12v for charging and an antenna connector). So I guess the question is, "is the standard mini antenna actually 2 antenna's? (an am/fm + a cell phone antenna)?? OR, are they just slitting out the cell frequecies from the same antenna, with a "frequency splitter" type box? OR, is the cell antanna somewhere else completely?

And in whichever case, have you tested your short antenna with a cell phone?

Thanks in adance for hte help.

I have not personally tested the short antenna with the integrated cell phone option. I don't believe the radio frequency antenna is used for any other reception than radio however.

Also, with the high mounting position of the MINI's antenna on top of the car, there is no perceptible loss of reception. We have sold many of these 4" antenna and to do I have only ever had one customer comment that their reception was effected. I've been using mine for over two years with great success.

Cheers,
Jason.
