Hmmmm, think of how much of your stuff could fit in the back of all those Clubman/Travelers heading east ........... You wouldn't even need a moving van for this trip.

Yeah I asked the factory guy the question about if they had assembled any Clubmans at Oxford. Very nice dude to reply to my questions.

The day Billy (Factory worker) replied he said that 2 full production Clubmans have been put together at the end of November. He went as far as to say that the car looks best in either Royal Grey metallic or the new Sparkling Silver metallic color due for the '07 R56.

I am FrankInMiami over at motoringfile.

Yeppers - we could DEFINITELY fit quite a bit coming back that way... We'll just have to wait and see if we can do part of the trip. That thing called "work" might get in the way.

Hey Donna,

I did the last MTTS in a Classic Mini, all 9,683 miles of it round trip.
I'll tell you going out to the east coast was great, some of the best times
I've ever had, but coming home alone, well, at times it wasn't fun.
A total of 35 days on the road.

So, I have a plan for next time in my new 08' MINI BRG Traveller.
I doing the whole thing from start to finish and then having the MINI shipped home.

I figure if I get a chance to do it again, in a new MINI, then I could spend some of my sons inheritance.

"And a job is only a job, it a means and not the end and there's lots of them out there. If they really want you, they'll wait."

So, maybe we'll see you on the road,
keith

Hmm, I'm undecided about the Traveller concept. I just don't think it looks.. "MINI".. you know? It just looks.. mehh..

I personally think the MINI Cooper should be left the way it is. For one, it is NOT a family car. You look at our MINIs and think to yourself, "Yes, this car is for me". Try doing that with your neighbor, and some random people down the street. What this will do is prove that the MINI Cooper is really not for everyone, but only a select few of people. You don't see everyone in a Porsche do you?

In my mind this is MINI/BMW trying to appeal to the SUV crowd, and all it has done is create an abomination really. Maybe it's just me, but I can't seem to find anything positive about this car

Can you imagine how the Classic owners must feel about the new MINI I can picture them using the same wording in their condemnation of what BMW did to the MINI

C4 - did they require a deposit?

You have a good point.

I still find the Traveller to be one giant eyesore, and doubt it will be on the market for very long. People are (FINALLY) beginning to look at sporty compacts and coupes again instead of behemoths and Hummers (All too common around here in NY, terrifies me and my lil Coopah to see a giant Hummer-like-elephant driven by Billybob and his beer).

I think what I would say to the Classic owners is that they may not like the Cooper, but they do have to appreciate the ingenuity and style of the Cooper. BMW could have gone far off the end and completely restyled the lil guy to look something like..

^Abomination to all that is peachy and wonderful in this world

That's right kids. Just be glad our cars don't look like the deformed offspring of a Dodge Neon and a Dinosaur.

Really though, the Classics are gorgeous. New MINIs are great. The Traveller looks like a flop to me. It just.. doesn't have the style and finesse the others have.

Thing is with the Clubman....like it or not.....it has a solid (and venerable) place in Mini history....even more than the cabrio in some ways. In light of this, it definitely "belongs" regardless of what individuals may think.

Remember, you're looking at a Car Show mock up. Seems there was a lot of folks talking about the 07 changes that MINI made and how it ruined the look and the style and the .............

My point being, to each their own. I personaly want the extra room this model will provide and one of the first mods I do will be to remove the rear seat

Everyone's got a different perspective on what looks good (thank god or I'd still be single).

BTW, my given name is Billybob and I like beer and fried taters J/k, it's Jimbob

Based on this I have to think you are completely oblivious to the history. Classics were designed to be family cars and the clubman concept goes right along with that. I love that BMW values the heritage of the Mini enough to bring the Clubman back and to give us a car that is more utilisable by the average person. My dad had to give up his MG's for his children but it looks like I won't be forced to give up MINI's for mine.

I hope the production model looks nothing like these spy shots. It looks like a bloated station wagon to me, I don't think it's going to stick to people like the cooper...unless it looks like this...

I've been waiting to get a Mini for years. I've had a deposit on a Clubman since December 2005. Right now as no. 4 on the list I can't wait. I would love a regular Mini, but I wanted a car for my Greyhounds and Doberman. This will be perfect for them. Tired of the 11 mpg of the Suburban and my 330CI convertible is only for me and my 3 lifesize Koko gorillas who travel with me. The Clubman may not be for everyone, but I have to believe that BMW will do a great job with it. We'll see.
