Hi there,

My 2011 R55 started (or at least, i'm now aware of it) making a very short, whiny noise just after the engine starts up. Lasting just a second or less.
Mostly when the engine is cold/first start of the day. I'v read something about the first regulation cycle of the engine oil pump and how that can make the noise i'm hearing. But it seems weird to me i've just discovered the sound. Or, can it be more present or more clearly due to certain wear or failure of a part? Here's a short video of it >

Sounds to me like a thin metal vibration. Starter bendix?

 

I have that sound as well on initial start up when the engine is cold. I don't feel it's anything to be concerned about. 2008 R55

 

Nah, It's not vibration like. At first i indeed suspected the starter bendix or so.. It doesnt really sound "pump" like to me
