R55 Cocktail Of Issues
Cocktail Of Issues
Hello all, I’ve got a 2010 Cooper S Clubman ant about 114K miles, and that’s about all the intro that anyone needs, I’m sure. I’m just looking for tips and tricks on how to approach all of these things that I need to handle.
- There is a general oil leak, somewhere, to the point of if I sit at a red light too long, when I take off there’ll be some blue smoke coming out of the hood scoop. I know a smoke test would be beneficial, but as of right now I’m planning on resealing the engine from top to bottom, while I’m in there I want to know what else I should try and tackle. The timing chain will be part of that excursion as well.
- Today when I got home, I popped the hood to check the oil (and add some), and saw that there was a pool of oil on top of a bolt. After a cursory google search, it suggested the valve cover could be cracked, so I have an aluminum one and the gasket in my ECS cart currently. This is the first time I’ve noticed it, I don’t think it’s a major key to the general burning/leaking oil but it certainly isn’t helping at the moment.
- Code 2885 (boost-pressure control deviation), it’s recurring but not perpetual. If I’m going up a hill in too high a gear, it can trigger half power mode. I’m not sure if the turbo lines need to be replaced, or the turbo, or what. Again, pointers are very appreciated.
- Code 2698, driving home from work today I threw this one. Google said inlet camshaft position sensor which is partially responsible for fuel delivery, maybe there’s more to it. I cleared the code, finished the remainder of my drive and it didn’t return.
- 2A56, this is the downstream O2 sensor and I believe it’s tripping because I have an aftermarket high flow cat on it, but the upstream one is tripping as well. Maybe just time to replace them?
