Reverse light not working after replacing footwell module.

Recently I had to replace the footwell module in my wife's 2011 Clubman. Apparently the original fried when I had to disconnect the battery and reconnect, because afterwards everything was haywire with the lights.. no turn signals, no interior lights, no brake lights, etc. I was able to find a used footwell module with the exact same part number from a Mini parts dealer in Texas. When I installed the replacement in the car everything started working again but I got a inop light warning in the tach display, along with the warning ⚠️. I did a walk around and all lights where working as they should. I had the wife put the car in reverse (6 speed) and there was no reverse light. I checked the bulb. It appeared good. I swapped it with a known good bulb and still no reverse light. I checked for 12 VDC with my meter at the bulb socket and there was nothing. I read that there is a fuse for the reverse switch/lamp but I can't find a fuse anywhere in the car marked as such. I unplugged the wiring connector from the reverse switch on the transmission to check for voltage on the blue wire and it was jumping all over the place..from 11 vdc down to 5, back up to 10, down to 6, etc. I'm at a loss as to what is causing this no reverse light problem. I have also read that even though the replacement footwell module had the exact same part number it has to paired with the VIN number and that can only be done by a dealer. There are no Mini dealers near where we live. Is this true? Does anyone have any other ideas as to whats causing this no reverse light condition? When i go into the menu to see what the CC-ID codes are i get the codes for the front fog lamps and they are operating correctly. Everything was working as it should before the module swap became necessary.

I believe this is correct, the footwell module needs to be paired with your car. I sent mine to ECUpro to be repaired but it ended up needing to be replaced, and they coded it to match my car.

Yes, the module needs to be coded to the specific vehicle to know what options/equipment it needs to be working with.
