R55 Thinking About Buying Another Clubbie
Thinking About Buying Another Clubbie
So I'm considering buying another Clubbie. This one is a non-turbo model (2013) with less than 20,000 miles. Would the low mileage give any of you concern? The point of my question is that by 40k-50k miles most of the normal issues should have been addressed. In this case is there anything major that could be looming in the near immediate future. I don't have a dealer close and there really aren't any reputable independent shops that specialize in euro cars close either. I can DIY most things but don't want to buy a constant maintenance vehicle. I already have a 2013 Clubman S that was very well sorted before I bought it.
The non-turbo wouldn't concern me much. Most of the chronic issues of the N18 engine just don't apply, and by 2013 they had chased out most of the rest of the gremlins.
Might be worth looking at a 2014 F54 series clubman, too. They're old enough now to have depreciated nicely, so you might find one in similar price range as a late-model R55. Admittedly the F series Clubman is much, much larger than the original, but that might be useful in a 2nd car.

I'm just not interested in the newer body style. I'm fairly tall at 6'-5" and the longer doors on the R55 make it a reasonable vehicle for me. The smaller doors on the 4 door models just don't work for me.
Well, it "was" an automatic transmission. No longer on the dealer's website so it likely has sold. It was almost 400 miles one-way so logistics were going to be a challenge. I don't like to buy sight-unseen but I would have on this one. I snoozed so I loozed!!!
I assume the non-turbo models have the same suspension as the turbo model in the 2012-2014 models and will handle similarly? If so I'm still going to keep my eyes open.

The basic engine design is similar. All the same upgrades will bolt right up, if that’s your plan. The spring rates might be slightly different due to the differences in weights. Same great handling out of the box.
