N16 good?

I just bought a 2012 R55. I posted in the 1st Gear section, but it looks like there isn't much activity there.

I see from the hood sticker that I have the N16 engine. Is that good? I've been reading some on this forum and seems that the N14 engine had some issues. Hopefully, that doesn't affect me.

Thanks.

N16 should be a decent engine. Keep up on the maintenance and should be good.

Thanks. Yes, I'll definitely keep up on the maintenance. Other than oil change and tune-up, is there anything specific I should keep an eye on?

Do people recommend doing oil changes more frequently than the manufacturer recommended intervals?

Thanks.

IMO you should not go more than 5k on oil intervals. also check the fluids every now and then. N16 has less problems than an N14, but keep in mind that all 2nd gens use similar parts. for example, the water pump, water pipe, thermostat (N12), fan (N12)...etc... the electronics are also the same/similar.
