Overheating.... going to mechanic tomorrow

It all started while I was running out of fuel this Wednesday. I was on fuel reserve. I had about 9miles left on gas. Suddenly the light “the engine is hot, drive slowly” turns on. I got worried. This happened in Boston, where you are constantly stopped due to high traffic.

I was on my way to the nearest gas station. When I got there, I filled the gas tank (I always use the most expensive gas available), and also put in some antifreeze since it was slightly under minimum level.

After this, the light has been coming on again. tends to turn on while stationary, or in traffic. Doesn’t come on while traveling in highway.

.
I bet the low fuel event was just a coincidence. Sounds like you have a cooling system problem.

check if the fan runs and/or water pump. was there pressure when you filled it with coolant? it could be a stuck thermostat.

Might want to check these common areas for a leak. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...8-no-heat.html
