2009 clubman coolant pipe. PLEASE HELP.

Hello. I have a 2009 Mini Cooper clubman
I've been having issues trying to put the new coolant pipe back from the thermostat to the water pump. I've changed the water pump already today and I tried putting the coolant pipe back from the new thermostat but something is blocking the pipe. Anyone have any suggestions. I've been trying for the past hour. Please help.

I've only had this problem with the aftermarket coolant pipes. I can't tell you what is exactly different, but the original MINI one is the one that fits right. If you have an original MINI one and still having an issue something else is likely wrong.

when i pulled my old water pipe off, the end of the pipe with o-ring and bits of pipe broke off and stuck on the mounting point. maybe check to see that the mounting area is completely clean. it was easier for me to check from the water pump area.

and as Way said, and many other threads have noted, non-OEM water pipe doesn't fit exact.

I had trouble getting mine in too. I found that I had to rotate it a bit to clear some obstruction on the back of the block. I wish I could remember what it was. Once I figured out what it was hitting and adjusted for that item it went in smoothly.
