Coil pack replacement

Is this an easy DIY or best left to the professional?

It's easy and it's expensive. You might want to weigh the pros & cons of this mod as the smile per mile isn't that great. If there is nothing wrong with your present setup leave it in place. On the other hand if you are a pro street racer and wind the tach off the chart you might justify the purcase price for parts.

If you're DIY savvy it's definitely one of the more simple jobs. The Bentley Manual may be very helpful to you especially if you plan to do more DIY work on your Clubman in the future. http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg1.htm#item0. Otherwise, you can also take a peek at our tech article here for the R56 as it might be helpful for you as well: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...eplacement.htm.

If needed, coils here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg2.htm#item5.

The dealer wanted $505 to replace 2 of the coil packs. I work at NAPA, they had ordered the parts from us so I saw the order. 2 coil packs a spark plugs $96 total. I called them and told them to cancel and I would pick it up. They charged me $89 for diagnostics. I can get the parts at cost.

Coil packs are very easy to swap out, and as stated earlier, they are very DIY friendly. You can get the BMW part number either online or off of your old coil packs and do a search for that. Do a little shopping online, and you can get high quality OEM brand parts for a much lower cost. I hate to say it, but sometimes the parts stores around where I live have lower quality brands for a much higher price than the higher quality brands online. There is a huge mark up on stuff like this, that results from expectancy that most owners are uninformed.

Coil packs are very easy to swap.

Got the OEM coil packs and a set of spark plugs. Changed them today, took all of 15 mins.
Parts were $105.
