Oops

Wife called me last Friday say she got hung up on the concrete parking bumper in a restaurant. Got there and found left corner of the bumper hung up on the parking bumper got down a freed it wasn't so bad told her to drive it home. I could jack it up due to ByPass surgery 6 weeks so couldn't see how bad damage is. Took in to AAA recommended body shop for estimate he told the will use non OEM, Refurb or used parts as necessary per AAA. Told don't think so has rare Hyper Sport Aero Kit and bumper is different. Will take it to Mini. Thursday for estimate. Bumper has to be replace as up corner is broken. She has never gotten used to not driving her Expedition.

Yikes, yep its the hypersport front bumper. get new parts and it will be fine. They will have a very hard time finding it used and not damaged.

If an insurance company told me non MINI parts ( unless they were upgrades ) or used, I think I would change insurance or the body shop. Most MINI dealers have body shops and will use only OEM parts. I had the local MINI dealership do mine.

Taking it in Monday to AAA approved body, who also did work for the Agency I worked for before I retired. They are using OEM parts and they do good work. The Mini shop is way across town, 20 miles, while this shop is 4miles away, just don't feel like fighting traffic. $1254 is preliminary estimate will adjust as necessary when the get into it.

Took the Mini in Monday picked up yesterday morning $1600, less the $500 deductible. The use all new OEM parts and did pad the parts cost. Went on ECS and checked the parts numbers. There were some I didn't even know existed as they were damaged when we got the car. there were 2 shield on the left and right that hang down from the bottom of the bumper, that had be broken off some time in it's life. Care looks like new. We have to develop a new way of getting out of our driveway as it tends to scrape as we go across the gutter. Least now I have the parts number incase I have replace the at a later date may even get them and have them handy. Car look like new completely detailed inside and out.
