Exactly what the title says. Motor is trying to engage but nothing happens, bought a new motor... same thing. Every once in a while it throws a warning in my speedo display that looks like a window with an exclamation mark. anyone familiar with this? thanks a bunch!

Did you initialize the window motor after the motor replacement? You can do this with a scan tool or manually. Do you have a Bentley Manual? We also go over the steps of this in our R56 Front Window Regulator Replacement on our site. It's under MINI > tech info (tab at top) > R56 articles > Interior > Window Regulator Replacement. It's discussed at figure 26 at the bottom.

Try this, and if it doesn't work try same instructions but roll down, then up, then down again, holding for 10 seconds after each time: "The window reset procedure is to press the the window switch down and hold it down as the window lowers and keep holding it down for 15 seconds after the window has gone all the way down. Then flip the switch to the up position and hold it up while the window goes up and keep holding it up for 15 seconds after the window is all the way up.

Please note that when you go from holding the switch down to holding it up, that should all be in one motion. In other words, to do this correctly you should be holding the switch down or holding it up through the entire procedure. The switch should never rest in the middle position."
