I couldn't find any Clubman specific photos of the pulsar brake light install so here you go. This was a very EZ mod for my '09 Clubman, plenty of room to squeeze the pulsar into the small space.
Brought the unit from Outmotoring, the one with SmartPulse but I believe it's the same unit the other retailers carry. Tools required: Torx t-25, scissors and small jewelers screw driver. A pair of wire strippers would also come in handy.
The only mod I made was to carefully pry out the little tabs [see photo] because I wasn't able to get a good grip on the bare wire in the stock position. YMMV.
[Top photo] This is what the stock unit looks like before prying the tabs. And this is with the tabs out...
Remove all 8 torx screws from underneath the light assembly and gently pull and it basically falls out and hangs down.
On my Clubman the wires were red for positive and black for negative. You don't have to remove anything else, simply figure out where you want to position the pulsar and measure where to make the single cut of the two wires. Then I used wire stripper to peel back the insulation [practiced 1st on the supplied wire in the kit].
* I first positioned the pulsar unit BEFORE I cut and put the light assembly back into position just to make sure it would fit.
Then I screwed down wires with the small screw driver, positioned the pulsar and placed the light assembly back [make sure the left and right end pieces line up correctly with the exterior trim before you put the torx screws back in]. That's it!
Tools.

I put one of those on my wife's clubman. Great safety item.
One thing is the the center rear stop light lets water in, after 2 years the pulsar stopped working. I pulled the light & checked only to find the pulsar was corroded to death.
I got a replacement & covered it in dielectric silicone grease. I then wrapped it in plastic to keep the moisture out. It has been in there 3 years now & it still flashed the brake light.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't notice any signs of moisture when I installed it. I need a new brake light soon, so I'll do that when I swap it out.
Does the light pulse every time you press the brake? Or only when you slam on the brakes (i.e. Volvo, BMW, M-B)?
After getting many requests from owners who live in high stop and go traffic areas, 'Go MINI Go' developed the second generation PULSAR with SmartPulse technology. When in stop and go traffic, SmartPulse will stop the third brake light from pulsating.
When you hold your brake pedal down for more than 12 seconds and then reapply your brake within 9 seconds, this unit will not pulse the third brake light. It will come on solid. When you reapply your brakes after 12 seconds, the unit will pulse your third brake light again.
