Need suggestion for the annoying seat lever on R55
Hello everyone,
There is one thing, and perhaps the only thing that I seriously hate about my clubman.... the seat lever

This thing gets caught on my jeans/pants every so often. I tried covering up with a plushy socks-like thing but that did not cure the problem. I'm even contemplating about completely removing them from both front seats.
Am I the only one having issue with this? Are there any solution or perhaps an aftermarket replacement that is shorter in length so it does not catch jeans when leaving the car?

Mine is removed on the passenger side of my R53 after my driver side mechanism broke. Instead of actually fixing the problem I relocated the issue to the passenger seat, and to keep anyone from parking the seat in the roof I just left the lever off. Doesn't look great, but you may be able to fix up something that'll look ok.
I have a similar height adjustment lever on my 2009 R55 S, but it looks a little bit different. No issues with my pants catching on it though.
Here's a photo of my lever.

Mine was cracked when I bought the car. Left a dent in the door panel. You maybe able to gently push it in so it sits flusher to the seat. My used to catch my pants as it was out too far

Nice seen one with the MINI logo and that trim disk,. Also that a Gen 1 MINI seat, so its a aftermarket decor on the circle part.
All the ones I have seen look like this,
#4 driver side. 52102752672

Mine is stock decor but I was just using the picture as a referral. And yes, that #4 part on that diagram is the evil culprit!! The arm extends too long for me

I haven't owned my 2012 that long, but it's my daily driver and I've never gotten caught on the seat adjustment lever on either side.
Wonder what your legs are doing differently than the rest of us.....

Same problem on my 02 r53 Iv broken several over 13 years. I just cranked the seat down, took of the handle and never looked back, never missed it, never needed it. Maybe I need to go back to school to learn how to get out of a car. Could not be a poor design for the two of us. But I am an old man. What do I know. Motor on
Have you thought about shortening the lever yourself? Removing it and cutting a piece out from the middle and reattaching it.. Could be a fun or obnoxious project, but might also solve your issue without having to remove it completely.

YeeeHaaa!
Them Duke boys never had no problems gettin' in or out of the General.
I'd price out a new side lever for the seat. If it's cheap, I'd remove and chop off the lever (distal) end of the old one and sand it down smooth. If you render it unusable after that, put a new lever on and keep the window open.
