R55 Headliner noise
Headliner noise
Our 2012S has an annoying rattle coming from behind the plastic panel where the switches are located in the headliner. I know this because if you press on the plastic panel and hold it there it goes away. It has gotten progressively worse over the past year. Since our warranty is only good for another 5 weeks it is time to take it to the dealer. Will the dealer have success fixing this or have others found the noise comes back over time?
I heard the same noise in 2 R56 models I was test driving before I bought my R55, and it would go away when I pushed on that area. So I assume it is fairly common. As to whether or not they'll fix it... My experience is that dealers will fix rattles under warranty when they know they can fix it. If it's a rattle with an unknown source/solution they'll want to charge you an inspection fee. But I am sure it varies from dealer to dealer.
when under full warranty I would not pay for any inspection fee, never heard of that. They fixed mine, put some double sided tape under pass seat area, atleast it's documented and if it comes back I'll bring it back in.
Dealer corrected the problem today. They claim a piece of trim was not glued from the factory. They put felt tape on the offending area and glued the part that was missing it. We'll see if it stays that way.
