Questions about navigation cluster...

So I have a 2010 Mini Cooper Clubman S without the navigation system, so just the standard center speedometer. What I am wondering is if I purchased a speedo from Ebay with the navigation screen could I simply attach it in place of the current one and the speed, gas, etc would all work? I am looking to do something custom with the display itself, so hacking that out to a VGA / HDMI connector or possibly replacing the display all together with another and just keeping the outside speed and gas indicators. Wondering if anything like this has been done or if anybody knows of a kit for this application.

Basically looking to use the screen to connect to something like a media server in the car or maybe even Android Auto, etc. Just don't want to blow $700 - $900 on the speedo if it won't be easy to get the speed and gas info working.

Thanks!

It is my understanding that the speedo and all of that will work just fine, the harnesses and everything you should be the same for the pieces you have and want to use. Not 100% positive but that is my understanding.
