R55 Roof Rack

Roof Rack
Has any one used the Yakima Control Tower and Landing Pad on a Clubman ? I am looking at several R55 but none of them have the factory roof rails and I prefer a Roof mount vs a Hitchmount

I read on one of the posts somewhere that the Mini Brand roof mounts didn't have the adjustability that Yakima and Thule have. In other words, different racks need to have different spacing. I know that when I go from my Yakima Raptors to my Yakima Rocketbox I have to adjust the amount of spacing.
Hopefully that made sense.

Not True. It's the accessory top which has the adjustability. Once the Base Support System is in place and properly secured, no adjustments are required between accessory top components being installed.
Case in point. First generation MINI Base Support Systems are permanently drilled into the roof tops, not attached to side rails. Yet these Base Support Systems utilize all the same top components as the other models do.
MINI systems also carry two year warranty needing only to be dropped off for replacement due to defect, no back and forth shipping or RO#s required.

My base system is permanently installed. My Thule cross braces slide to accept my bike rack or ski box. I can install either in under 5 minutes. Also handy for home depot runs....
I feel better about the permanent mounted rails not being able to come off if I drive spirited while tooting the bikes
