I think your initial update was just the tensioner. Which was nothing more then a tensioner that was a bit longer and applied more tension to the chain. So in all practical purposes it was a temporary fix. I think MINI was just testing the waters to see how long it would last and make changes from there. From here though you want to make sure that what ever you install from here is the latest and greatest of parts. In your current case though. you will need the whole timing chain cassette and tensioner. I would start fresh so your not always having to mess with it! And hopefully it will be the last time you ever have to touch it!
Got the news today, Mini is going to fix it one last time as a courtesy, next time it acts up it is on us. They are replacing everything this go round.
