Hi, My driver side low beam headlight is out. I keep getting the low beam malfunction warning. The bulb will occasionally flicker but does not fully turn on. The high beam still works just fine.

I have checked the fuses and that all wiring external to the headlight is tight and attached so no issues there.

Before purchasing the ballast/ignitor or other $$ parts. I wanted to check by swapping the working bulb with the non-working one. But.... I can't figure out how to remove the bulb. Seems silly to ask but I couldn't figure it out.

I have a 09 Clubman S. I opened the compartment on the back of the headlight assembly and get to the back of the bulb but there are two metal bars that are over the back of the bulb(?) preventing me from pulling it out. I have searched on the forums and can't find any step by step procedure. Help from the forum would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be ordering an R55 soon, how relevant is it if I pick up a copy of the Bentley service manual that only serves up to 2011??

 

Its a great book to have, some items (if not most ) and part of the engine carry over from the 2011 models. Oil changes and general maintenance is the same. And congrats on the new R55 Clubman.
