Tire pressure

Have an 11 clubman S with 11K on the clock. Bought it 10 months ago with 4K on the clock. Have never checked the tire pressure as I bought from a BMW dealer and was told it was fully serviced.

Yesterday the TPS came on steady light and indicated the front right had an issue.

I checked all 4 tires and all but the RF was at 27psi the RF was At 26psi.

Checked the tag on the door jam and it says 38psi all the way around.

So what's up with the TPS? Shouldn't it have alerted of low pressure a long time ago? Is 38psi correct for stock tires?

Not necessarily, it depends on what the tire pressures actually were when the TPMS system was last reset.
I believe it depends on a drop from the last set pressure, not the absolute pressure.
