Towing capacity Clubman S

Does anyone have any information as to an appropriate rule of thumb in regards to a towing capacity of a Clubman, 2008, S
500-800-1000 etc lbs

MINI will tell you not to tow at all. But, I know people do it without issue. Since the car is 2900 lbs. My personal rule of thumb would be not to exceed 1/3 the weight of the car. That's on an open trailer so wind resistance is minimized.

MINI USA does not have a spec because they do not endorse it. I would not go more than what the hitch is rated for. Hitches for a clubman are usually either 140/1400 tongue/total or 200/2000.

In Europe they tow all the time. Rating for Clubman S 1000lb unbraked trailer or 1400lb braked trailer. USA doesn't allow anything cause they're so friklin sue happy here!
