Got new key fob rings on mine today. But in reviewing the information posted here, it appears that the rings for vehicles with Comfort Access (P/N 61-31-3-456-347) were installed on mine when I should have received the 'standard' chrome rings (P/N 61-31-3-449-599).

This in and of itself doesn't concern me from a cosmetic standpoint; the new chrome rings definitely look better than the original ones that were getting kind-of chewed up. What does concern me is whether fob recharging will be affected by the installation of the wrong trim ring (the Comfort Access fobs are not recharged by the vehicle, whereas the 'standard' fobs are).

Does anyone know why the different part number call-out for trim rings on the fobs, if not to facilitate the recharging function...? Do I need to go back and get the correct chrome rings installed before the fobs become discharged...?

EDIT: I think I answered my own question. According to RealOEM, separate trim rings for the Comfort Access and 'standard' key fobs do not exist; they appear to use the same trim ring. P/N 61-31-3-449-599 was superseded in July 2010 by P/N 61-31-3-456-347; the latter is probably the more durable replacement. Carry on.

Just got Little Wing back from the dealer for scheduled maintenance under warranty.
Because of this thread I took both of my key fobs in.
They replaced the rings on both fobs, no charge, under warranty.
Tom Bush, Jacksonville, FL is a wonderful dealer!
Thanks to the OP for this thread.
