R55 I hate my rear view mirror!
Problem is that I'm talking about a Coupe.
I've been thinking about that possibility. You could mount one by the third brake light maybe. I just question how well they would work at night. Of course I don't speed much at night so my paranoia about who's creeping up behind me wouldn't really apply. They are tiny these days. I wonder if one would fit inside the assembly with a small hole drilled for the lens to see through. I guess I'm swinging by the dealership at lunch today.
Some states such as Virginia REQUIRE the interior rear view mirror so beware if you remove it. In Tennessee there is no requirement so you're ok.
Stopped by the dealership at lunch and it looks like the solution to my problem is to buy a roadster instead of a coupe. The rear window sits higher so I don't have the rearward visibility issue that I had in the coupe.

I was talking about a clubman because the OP was talking about a clubman in the clubman forum. The original question was, who has problems with the rearview.
sorry for the confusion

My fault. I did a search for mirrors and didn't notice that the thread was vehicle specific.
I noticed the mirror problem the first time I hit my favorite tight twisty road. I figured it was just me until I read this thread. So today I rotated the Mirror all the up and used my side mirrors. That tactic will work on back roads, but the mirror will still be down in traffic.
I'm a new MINI driver (R56) and I hate the rear view mirror because it *is* too small for full *rear* viewing, which has nothing to do with seat height (or removal of every seatrest in the car) in my case/opinion. It's just a micro mirror. I do not feel safe freely moving around on the road w/o more information. Of course I didn't use it much, if at all, during the exciting test drive and now I am sorry. I've been scouring the internet for options since the day I brought it home. If anyone locates a viable option, please advise.
Just Google "Panoramic rear view mirror." and you'll get a lot of options.
My favorite is the, "Wink 5 panel Rear View Mirror." I had one in a car many years ago. I could see everything behind me, but the sun visors have to go with the Wink.

I can't say I have an issue to be honest with the blind spot
Im 6'2" and have the seat as low as it will go
Clubman owners have stronger neck muscles than hatch owners due to the ducking and diving we have to do to see :D

Thanks, Dave. I found a convex mirror that adheres to (double-sided tape) and fits within the existing standard issue rearview at OutMotoring. Slight blue tint giving the appearance of darkness I originally thought might not work but, so far, so good. Hope the tape holds.
@the psycho therapist:
I picked up a Broadway (<--brand) panoramic mirror from Way Motor Works two MINIs ago. It clips onto the front of the OEM mirror. The pics below aren't my MINI but shows the device in place. Now I couldn't live w/o it. (BTW: This solution does not resolve the OPs issue- in fact may make it worse).

* Driving our clubbie around town as a daily driver, the location of the mirror is not an issue for me or my wife (we're both 5'7"). But on this vacation in the Tennessee mountains while attacking the twisties, I've been experiencing the exact same frustration as the OP with the mirror an annoying obstruction during hard right turns at speed. If I drove this way every day, I'd be ticked off, and find some way to deal with it. Fact is, though, we hardly ever drive this way.
*The rear-visibility issues mentioned by some in this thread bothered us for exactly one day, after which time we got very used to it and enjoy the exceptionally generous 360 degree vision the clubbie provides. I think the barn door issue is more a psychological one. You can still see everything you need to see behind you, and then some, due to the expansive glass area along the sides of the car. That being said, I did add the $500 rear park option to our 2013 clubbie just to alleviate my fears of backing into a low guardrail or little kid when exiting driveways.
