spongy brake padal

does anybody knows why the brake pedal feels spongy after I changed the front brake pads on my 2008 miniclubman s? I replace with semi metalic premium pads. Also I tried to reset the computer and the number of miles left (3600) to change the front brakes does not change. the computer resets but the miles to go does not change.

You now need to bleed the system for the pedal to return to the right feel.

You need to bleed in this order: rr-lr-rf-lf

Try this and see if it works out for you.

The only time I had spongy brakes was when I left off the cap for the brake fluid and when I disconnected the vacuum hose on the engine and forgot to reconnect it.

Of course, sometimes it's just you need to pump the brakes a few times before departing to get the system re-pressurized if you removed the fluid cap and pushed the calipers all the way back.

Did you replace the brake wear sensors? There are two of them... 1 on front, 1 on rear.
