I have wondered what a couple of 8-inch subs in the barn doors similar to the components in photo #2 would sound like.

 

Audiovox started making quality gear in the mid-90s. Guess who made all of Alpine's high end alarms? Same goes for their monitors and the monitors for a number of other companies.

If done correctly, subs back there rock. I used to to it in Excursions all the time. If I had the supplies here I needed I'd put my 12s in the barn doors.
