I have a R55 with USB/BT option (not Mini Connect) and when I connect my iphone to this player it makes a lite hissing noise. does everyone get that?

my wife has a R60 with Mini Connect and hers does not hiss at all?

Anyone have any comments?

 

I presume that you're using the same MINI-supplied connector that I use in mine (looks like this)...? If so, I've not noticed any 'hissing' when I connect my iPod. I've never tried to connect an iPhone through this connector, but I wouldn't anticipate any difference.

 

Some more information on the cables you are using would really be a help to those trying to assist you.

As for connecting an iPod vs iPhone in the same car there really should be no difference.

But a lot of people have found ground issues with the AUX input jack that causes hiss issues.

Also as this is really a Audio problem this thread would be better off in the NAV & Audio Section where i am sure this exact same question has been asked already.

 

I use a small USB thumb drive for MP3s and have occasionally heard hissing noises from certain albums or songs. In each case, I re-ripped the tracks at a higher bit rate and the issue was resolved. Drive stays in the car permanently and has worked great for almost 2 years now.
