Also need help with new Clubman...

Less than a 1000 miles on our '11 Pepperwhite Clubman S and I'm in North Texas (100 miles from the closest dealer). Wife was driving a quick 200 mile round trip in 105 degrees when towards the end of the trip the "engine malfunction" light comes on in yellow (owners manual p. 143 says you can continue but moderate your speed). She pulls over and turns off the car and waits a bit before continuing. She then drove 25 miles and when she hit the brake to stop the cruise control and make a turn, the "engine oil pressure too low" light came on briefly but disappeared...

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the oil level with the dipstick? These cars are sensitive to low oil levels. That would be the very first thing I would do. It would be a good habit to regularly check your oil level, especially with a new vehicle to get a handle on how much oil your car may use. Don't assume because MINI uses synthetic oil and supports roughly 15K oil change intervals (usage based determined by the car's computer) that the oil level will never drop. Good luck.

Okay my car has 78+K on it but it needs a quart of oil every 1500 miles or so. but it is not uncommon to have a MINI that needs a quart every 1500-2000 miles. especially in the higher temperature zones.

So as rhawth99 said check that oil level.

Thanks folks!! I checked the oil as soon as she got home as well as the coolant reservoir and both were perfect. Dealership called and told me to "call them if it happens again." I'll see what goes on but it's been blistering hot and the front grill was covered in huge grasshoppers so there was limited intake that's for sure!!!

Appreciate the quick responses folks!!

I have not added any oil in either Mini, with around 6k. The non s does have the oil can light and dinger come on every once in while. The dealer replaced the oil pump and it still does it. Must be an indication issue, oil level at the top of dip stick, they are replacing the oil press sw. Traded it for an 11. no problems in 45 mile on the odometer.
