Intake Sensor Intermittent???

Code P1112 - Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit Intermittent

Took the MINI out for a drive on Saturday and drove it pretty hard and it hasn't been driven like that in a while. Then pretty much left it sitting until Tuesday when I swapped in an intake tube. Took it out for test run and to run errands - no problems.

Then yesterday morning it started lurching forward and cutting off boost as soon as I left my neighborhood. Pulled off the BOV and put in the stock 'noise generator' since I'm getting a Forge one. A little better during the test run but even at idle it was bobbing between 600/700 and 1000 rpms. Once my husband was home from work we started troubleshooting - re-plugged the wires I had to disconnect and checked everything and we ended up taking apart the intake again. Test run #2 of the day - much better but it was still cutting off boost if you were at less than 50% throttle. Then even to the floor it would take a few seconds to catch on or not at all.

Then this morning on the drive to work it was running smoothly until I got to the intersate. Flexed the gas several times and it caught on and didn't have anymore issues.

I'm thinking it could be that my sensor is going bad but after clearing the error last night it hasn't come back on. Or maybe it's the computer still trying to compensate from Saturday's drive. I doubt putting the stock intake tube will do anything - but I'm going to try anyways once I'm home.

Anyone have any ideas or come across this before? I've asked on my local forum's page and figured to ask here too. I don't think its a Clubman specific problem but hey you never know. Thanks in advance!

Got an appointment at the dealership and dropping off the MINI off today - we'll see what the cause is on Monday and I'll post the results in case anyone else gets the same or similar symptoms.

Update: It wasn't the intake sensor

Got Johnny 55 back yesterday and it turns out other code checkers other than MINI spit out random codes. That's why that one didn't exist (if you happen to look it up or call them about it) ...good info to know!

The problem was the "Engine Timing Chain Tensioner Failed" so the Schomp guys replaced it along with checking the timing of the camshafts. They even had to remove oil pan because broken parts had fallen off...We were surprised that it was even running and that I made it up there without causing more damage.

One of the cars we used to have had the same thing happen and my husband ended up having to replace two of the heads.

So now that Johnny is back and running normal its time to flush his brakes for our first track day this weekend
