Rodent damage!!

So the wife's Clubby is in the shop for annual maintenance and a few electrical issues that popped up last week. All of a sudden the driver's seat heater and the iPod adapter stopped working, luckily just a few days before it was scheduled to go in. So she made a list of things for them to check out while it's in for servicing. It took them two days to chase down the problem: mice in the fuse block area and under the carpet chewing up wires. Repairs are gonna be in the vicinity of $600, and of course it's not covered under warranty, and with a $500 deductible it's not worth going through my insurance. I guess we're lucky it didn't cause a fire or something. Very strange that they'd get in there, because the car is driven every day and garaged every night. I know the little b@st@rds are in the garage, 'cos I've seen the signs. I've heard of (and seen) them building nests in cars and equipment that sit for extended periods, but in all my life I've never heard of them getting in a car that's used daily and doing damage like that. They're particularly hearty this year, as I seem to be pulling two-three of them out of my pool skimmer every night. I guess it's time to wage war before they decide to set up camp in my MINI!

Sounds like you need a 'garage' cat.

Putting one of these in your garage should take care of the problem.

That's cool.

I just laid 8 of these down.

Got the first one within 10 minutes; nailed 4 of them all told by this morning. Also dumped mothballs in the corners and on the floor under the cars. Now the whole house stinks of mothballs ... but hopefully they won't be destroying anything else in there. The war is on.

I use this in my garage and it smells better than mothballs.

Use dryer sheets in key places to keep rodents out. They hate it. It also gives the garage a fresh scent, although my wife says it is too strong if you use them inside the car.

I've heard that, too ... gotta smell better than mothballs. I just thew them around the garage, but the whole house stinks now. I'm gonna give that EarthKind stuff a shot tomorrow when I can finally get to the hardware store.

Killed 8 of them so far in the garage, but that doesn't compare to my one-day record of 10 drowned in the pool a few mornings ago. All those mothballs in the garage must be really upsetting their routine!

So far it has worked. My John Deere dealer sells it. The farmers use it in tractor cabs.

Squirrels ate mine a couple months ago while I was at work...$300 worth of damage. Make sure you check with your insurance company, it should be covered.
