Clubman window question...

I am going to put some window tint on the side windows and have a question...

When the doors open the side windows "crack open" about 1/4-inch. In order for the window tint to be installed, I need the window completely up. Is there any way I can open the doors and not have them "crack open"?

Thanks

I would think you could tuck enough down beside the inner belt moulding for it not to be a problem. Both of my MINI's are tinted and there isn't a problem. Of course, I didn't do it, so I'm not really sure if there is a trick or not. But out of the cars I have done, you always leave some down past the rubber anyway. Good luck.

Use a screw driver in the lock on the door.
It should put the window all the way up.
Use the outside door handle to lower it back down when complete.

+1 this is what the pros do, I've seen them do this on my earlier BMWs and they did the same thing when I had my Clubbie tinted.....when he says use a screwdriver on the lock, he doesn't mean to put it into the lock (like a key) he means to press the lock mechanism on the side of the door (when opened) to "fool" the car into thinking the door is shut and closed so the window will go all the way up.

Maacodale,

I've tried that but the inner rubber seal is very tight and it's very hard to tuck the material past it.

Irontree,

Thanks for the tip!

murph,

Thanks for explaining Irontree's tip in more detail!

Edit:

Irontree, I tried it and it works perfect! So simple.

You could also disconnect the battery before you open the doors.
